Early Country Motoring
Cars and Motorcycles in Suffolk
1896 to 1940
For many people who live in the country, the motor car is an integral part of everyday life, essential to reach their place of work, transport the week’s shopping, or visit the seaside at the weekend. However, this is a comparatively recent phenomenon, and even after the Second World War most people would not have believed that so many families today would have at least one car.
The aim of this book is to give an insight into the development of private motoring in Suffolk up to around 1940, concentrating more on the people and places rather than the technicalities of the vehicles.
