James Hunt had his first win in a Hesketh at the Dutch Grand Prix, but his biggest triumph was winning the World Championship the following year in 1976 with a McLaren alongside the Ferrari of Niki Lauda. He retired in 1979 with Wolf. Soon after his retirement, he started commentating alongside Murray Walker on the BBC for 13 years until he passed away in 1993 age 45.

Hunt was known as a fast driver with an aggressive, tail-happy driving style, but one prone to spectacular accidents, hence his nickname of Hunt the Shunt.
